Ok, so she hasn’t gotten the forward propulsion thing down too well, but she is *this* close to making us baby-proof the house.
This is just one of her new tricks learned last week.
- She now can amuse herself for a while by blowing raspberries. We find it very cute, but it isn’t great in mixed company.
- She has become a big fan of zerberts on her belly. The mom’s have found that this can sometimes snap her out of screaming fits. Yay for new mom tricks!
- Her toes now touch the ground in her “around we go” entertainer (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-11/qid=1158002982/ref=sr_1_11/602-3192920-1875807?%5Fencoding=UTF8&asin=B000BLGVHY ) This means that she can (sort of) navigate around to the station that she wants, rather than having us push her.

My pediatric physical therapist PT friend suggests that kids don’t go in those bucket things (like exersaucers, walkers, etc.) until they can have flat feet on the floor. She says it can lead to tight heel cords from having their feet dangling all pointy-like. Just an FYI.
Dude, your kid is CUTE. :)
wow, that’s interesting about the feet thing. The directions that came with this said to adjust it so that only their toes touch. It said to make the seat higher once they are flat-footed. I’m going to have to look into this!
Wow, I wonder why the toy specifically wants their little toes to dangle. I’ve never heard of anything like that, on any of those toys. So interesting.
I tend to tell my families that flat feet is better because then the kid can do weight-bearing on their whole feet (which is a lot like real standing) and it keeps them from just being slumped in those buckets with their coccyxes (dang, what is the plural of that? coccyces?) at a weird angle. But hey, def. check with the instructions or something totally.
Your kid is still cute.
Thinking about it a little more, I wonder if the instructions are sort of a CYA to prevent kids from falling out? Maybe they think if they can’t get good footing, they can’t push themselves out over the top?
My solution: supervise your kids when they’re in those toys! Because there really isn’t any reason for a toy to encourage your kid to stand/walk on tiptoe. :)
p.s. This is in no way an indication of you or your parenting. I am so frustrated by the infant/toddler toy industry.
Cute photo of her :)
y’all are hanging out with the WRONG folks! Malka’s raspberries are BIG hits in public, and often elicit raspberries in return! If people really don’t find them all that amusing, just teach the ADORABLE Miss Quinn to stick up 2 fingers while she does it… :)
