Some random notes about Jude

I wrote this up to post at the IVP and then decided that there are some others of you out there who might also like the update. And since I suck and never update with a REAL post…

Just finished my post-partum bleed, so obviously I’m not up for more yet. The weird thing is, Megan hasn’t bled since that spotting she had on the BC pills. I’m guessing the pumping and domperidone is keeping Flo a away, but it is unexpected.

I am completely in love with Jude. I had been a little nervous the whole time, especially once we found out he was a (whispered) boy. A boy just seemed so foreign to me. I shouldn’t have worried, I’m just overwhelmed with the cuteness.

I’m going to knock on wood before I type this, but Jude is a pretty good sleeper, a diligent nurser and exceedingly good-natured. Quite a change from Q at this point!

I still don’t have a full milk supply, but we are still freezing more than we thaw and have a gigantic (for us) freezer stash of around 30 ounces. I do think I have more milk than I did the last time, but not enough. I imagine there will be some formula in our futures, but we are holding tough at this point. Jude is a little fussy about nursing for Megan sometimes because she doesn’t give him the firehose treatment that he expects, but when I run out and he needs a top-off, he happily nurses from her and ALWAYS passes out. I swear her boobs are full of sedatives.

Jude (and I) are totally hooked on our Moby. He wants to be held all the time (who doesn’t?) and it makes it easier. I wish we had had it with Quinn. I believe a dear friend of ours might be sending us a hotsling and we are excited try that as well.

The craziest thing? Where his hair attaches to his head — BLONDE. Like the dark part stops and then there is about a 1/4 inch of hair that looks clear. Bizarre! (For those of you who don’t know our history, I have brown hair/eyes and our KD is a dark-haired Italian. We were surprised by Q’s fairness. Jude looked more like what we expected. It would be shocking if we ended up with TWO blondes)
